In space no one can hear you complain about your job.
monochrom's ISS is a ten-part improv-reality-sitcom about living and working on the International Space Station. The four actors playing the ISS crew must develop strategies on the fly in response to surprise situations, which are loosely based on actual ISS data uncovered by monochrom.
This episode was recorded in front of a live audience on March 16, 2011.
Hierboven zie je aflevering 1, aflevering 2 en 3 zijn ook al opgenomen. De volgende aflevering zal op 1 juni opgenomen worden in Wenen. De laatste zes afleveringen worden gespeeld in Berlijn, dus als je op 23, 24 of 25 juni of 27, 28 of 29 oktober daar in de buurt bent, lijkt me dit een geweldig uitje.
Vandaag is het precies vijftig jaar geleden dat de eerste mens in de ruimte was. Joeri Gagarin vloog met de Vostok 1 ongeveer een uur in een baan om de Aarde. Daarom wat (Nederlandstalige) liedjes over astro- en kosmonauten: Gorki hierboven en Spinvis hieronder.
Overigens, formeel is Gagarin de eerste man in de ruimte, maar er gaan al jaren verhalen de ronde dat het ook wel eens eens anders zou kunnen zijn. Zo zouden de twee Italiaanse broers Achille en Giovanni Judica-Cordiglia al in 1960 in hun 'houtje -touwtje space center' Torre Bert geluidsopnamen hebben gemaakt van mensen in de ruimte:
The Torre Bert experiment took a more serious turn on November 28, 1960. A West German observatory announced that it was receiving a strange signal on a Soviet space frequency. The brothers tuned in, and heard hand-keyed Morse code repeating the international distress signal, S-O-S, over and over again. Their Doppler calculations showed almost no relative speed, which they interpreted to mean that the distressed spacecraft was on a course directly away from the Earth. The signal grew weaker and was never heard from again. Apparently, the brothers had just recorded evidence that a manned Soviet spacecraft somehow got off course and left Earth's orbit, permanently.
About two months later in February 1961, variously reported as the 2nd or the 4th of the month, they picked up another transmission from space, which experts interpreted at the time as the dying breaths of an unconscious man:
And another signal from the same flight, interpreted by the brothers' father, a cardiologist, as a failing human heartbeat:
Maar of het waar is wat hierboven staat?
Het citaat komt uit Search for the missing astronauts van Brian Dunning, die twijfelt. Maar uiteraard zijn er ook mensen die wel geloven in 'verloren kosmonauten', zoals Kris Hollington in Lost in Space.
En ik?
Het verhaal van die Italiaanse broers is zo mooi dat het me niets uit maakt of het waar is of niet.
